George Cross Commemoration

Malta Arts Festival in Valletta

13th September 2017

On 15th April 1942, at the height of WW2, a heavily bombed Malta was awarded the George Cross Medal by King George VI for its heroism and devotion.

Malta and the UK have many links but this remains one of the strongest and most meaningful. This event is commemorated yearly by a son-et-lumiere in St George's Square in Valletta - the very same square where the actual conferment took place 75 years ago.
